While we're on the subject of Catholics, Catholicism & their Churches...I've a confession to make.
I really respect A.B.Rosenthal; perhaps not more than any other person working in the pathetic, sorry journalism industry today -- but certainly as much.
That this man writes for the New York Times is simply unbelieveable & (for me) one of life's pleasant surprises; and, contridictions.

So as to my question to you Mud?
Asking; "Why our nation conducts trade with another nation who has steadfastly refused to relax its totalitarian, communist grip around the throats of its peoples? While IGNORING the former block states?"

Perhaps my asking you this question was as silly, as it was unfair; since given this supurb article's insights?
I ought to address the question to these, "businessmen," huh.

Businessmen who it would appear enjoy reaping the HUGE profits generated by slave labor are obviously the fruits of deals struck with the communist elite thugs.

...& where are America's Labor Unions while this outrageous situation is going down?
They must either be awaiting the addition of these slaves to their membership rolls according to some backroom deal made under the Clintigula regime, or, these pathetic unions are taking the same, "ignorance is bliss' stand NOW has concerning the deplorable treatment of women by the Taliban fanatics.

Leftist hypocrates of the lowest kind one & all.

Sorry to burst yer bubble,Boy, but the Slimez $#!+-canned Rosenthal soon after this Story was written...coincident?! LOL...believe what you will.

"Why our nation conducts trade with another nation who has steadfastly refused to relax its totalitarian, communist grip around the throats of its peoples? While IGNORING the former block states?"

The China/USSR Dilemma...one of my favorites. In the late-40's, the two big non-Losers in WWII were USSR and the USA, and these two Military Adversaries embarked upon a 40-year Cold War in which every diplomatic initiative by both Countries was colored by the Fight Between the Left (the Communist Soviet Republic) and the Right (Good Ol' America)!! Well, one geopolitical chess move American statesmen undertook was to beFRiend Communist China as a Counter-Balance to the USSR. It worked...and now the USSR has broken up into a number of Nation-States trying desperately to catch up to Civilization, as seen in Western Europe and the Americas.

So why are we still allowing China to walk all over us, foreign-policy-wise?! Good question!!

"Businessmen who it would appear enjoy reaping the HUGE profits generated by slave labor are obviously the fruits of deals struck with the communist elite thugs."

Very true, my LargeTricepped FRiend...and I've always contended that Corporate Welfare is more beneficial to supporters of Leftist Causes and Politicians than to those who propose a Smaller Federal Involvement in our daily lives.

"...& where are America's Labor Unions while this outrageous situation is going down?"

Real Big Labor is against this overly-generous trade posture with the undeserving PRC, but the Union Effete Elite are EAT UP with the Big Guv'ment Unions who increasingly advocate themselves pay raises and increased Union Dues!!

"Leftist hypocrits of the lowest kind...one & all."

You said it, my wise compadre...MUD
