"Gonna have ourselves a "Convoy de Cubano"!!

The FReeper Conga!

There are some pre-requisites to participate.

1) You have to love this country as if you were born here.

2) You have to love Freedom even more than that.

I'm pretty sure you guys qualify.

Luis

"Luis, you let me know the next time you and your FRiends will be marching down Calle Ocho, and I'll drive down and march with you, if you will have me."

"...if you will have me"?...You must be kidding! I would be honored by your presence!

Meet me down in Calle Ocho for lunch one day!

Three shots of Cuban coffee, and you'll be ready to go dig bin Laden out of his cave bare-handed.

Norb in JAX put me on to your article. Beautiful! I was living in Georgia when the Elian affair took place. At times there were only one or two of us in front of the Court House there, until bigger demonstrations came on. The day Manny Diaz et al showed up to present arguments, there were many of us outside, but a few disgruntled leftists showed up to provoke us. Nobody - thank goodness - took the bait. I too am writer, and have recently finished a novel encompassing 50 years in the life of a Cuban from a fishing village on Cuba's north coast, in his journey to college in the United States, to American citizenship, and to a fantasy style return to a cleansed homeland in the year 2003. Visit my page www.greathammerhead.com, or visit my poems pages at www.mipogallery.com/rick.htm http://pub59.ezboard.com/fdulcefrm19 Hope to hear from you soon. I just joined this url. Thank you for such a beautifully written piece. Thanks to Norb for pointing it out. Rickhammerhead (Raul)

Well, compadre, my Spanish is a little rusty, and it sounds suspiciously Puerto Rican, but if you can handle it, mano, I'll be there! Just give me the word.

Mi amigo, you have started something big, really big. My Fleetwood is likely waaaaay too small for the crowd that will want to drive to Miami and march with you for FReedom!

Raul, like your site. Bookmarked.

Where do you live? Anywhere near I-95 between Springfield, VA and Miami?

Since Mud and Norb are riding with me when Luis issues his next FReedom call, we might as well stop and pick you up, too.

Isn't this wonderful? I read it again tonight and, doggone it, if tears didn't flow again!!!!

Luis - one of these days - I hope I have the high privilege of meeting you and of hugging some of these wonderful Cuban Americans who turned out to support their beloved "second" home - America - as they walked down the Freedom Road!

Tonight - in Kabul - I saw Afghan people dancing in their own streets - freedom streets I pray - free from the Afghan Butcher Tyrant Talieban! Thanks to our wonderful Commander in Chief, the magnificant American military, and the Afghan fighters of the Northern Alliance......another Freedom Road is in the making.

President Bush said the Sept 11 attack was an attack ON FREEDOM!

He was and is right. May a new dawn of Freedom begin to break over the world .......and may we one day have a chance to bring a freedom road right down the center of Havanna, Cuba!

I'm not crying this time, Luis. You and the courageous Cuban-American patriots of Miami deserve not only our fellowship, but our helping hand. You should be celebrated as the best America can be, and in another time, a different war, your rally would have been held up as an example for all Americans who take their freedoms for granted.

Why today's media chose to ignore this story, why they chose to release their disingenuous recount story on Veterans' Day I can imagine, but I'd rather believe that they have lost their way. Forwarding your essay so that they may share your vision, your blessing on our nation, your truth. Thank you, Luis.

COB1, thank you for guiding me here.
Luis, you always convey in the most beautiful and moving way word pictures of what you see
and feel!
You might recall a year ago during the election I related Miami is the city where I was born,
soon moving to Coral Gables, where I lived until I was 9 1/2.

Can you believe as a child we used to take Sunday drives in the country
to Baker's Haulover on Miami Beach?!
Very little of the Beach was developed on the ocean side before WWII.
In Coral Gables, about every third lot was empty and there was no Miracle Mile.
At the intersection of Miracle Mile and Ponce de Leon Boulevard was the CG Bus Station,
a drug store, bank and an empty lot where a carnival set up each year.

I then moved to the area where you reside now - Melbourne.
Okay (laughing) - so it really is 'Eau Gallie!'
I'll always think of it as that, especially the harbor.

Thank you for this wonderful gift - and for all those you give us.
