Wow! You are completely right! The evils of board games, snacks, and Creature Feature movies are destroying the very moral fabric of our country!
You know what the US needs? Some sort of Government department..I don't know...some sort of Department of Vice and Virtue, to police people's evil, EEEEVIL behavior. After all, look how well it worked for the Taliban.
I hear that head of that Department in Afghanistan is currently looking for work....maybe we could hire him as a consultant?

Possibly...but the question remains: How do you make the direct connection that letting your kids watch Count Floyds Chilling and Thrilling Monster Scary Movies on Saturday night lead to their later problems with drug abuse? Those monster movies were much bigger in the 50's and 60's compared to these days, and society seemed to have magically not collapsed, somehow...Not that I'm trying to make light of what your kids went through, but that's a pretty wide brush to tar with, and then not offer up any actual proof for.
Your responses to all this sounds like those parents who tried to sue Judas Priest, when their son commited suicide. And in the end, all we found out was that these parents were pretty much unfit for raising children in the first place...they just wanted a scapegoat.
My fear is that it's a very small step from "I'm going to tell my friends not to watch Harry Potter, because I think the devil is behind it" to "I think we should get the Government to keep people from watching Harry Potter, because we'll be saving the people from themselves." I mean, geeze, Utah already has a "Porn Czar" (Although that I would MUCH rather see a state do that then have it as a Federal thing...) Nice to see in a world where crazy religious wackos are trying to extinguish our people and culture, that the Government still is still together with it's priorities,

Holy crap! 93 million dollars?! 93 million *freakin* dollars? In one weekend?
Okay, maybe the Fundamentalists were right; Rowling MUST have sold her soul to pull in those figures. *heh*

I agree with you. We have been flirting with the occult for years. It's forbidden by God, we know it, but we continue to do it anyway because "we know what we're doing", and "it's really harmless". So, we've made our choice. Arguing is ineffective. If the heart isn't changed, the mindset will never change.
I have not always been successful bringing my children up in the way they should go as the Bible commands me to do, but I ultimately understand my children have free-will. I pray for them, for their discernment, and for them to understand that although they are in the world they are not to be of it, and above all to have Jesus in their hearts. If anyone cares to pray for my children (Matt and Molly) in this worldly struggle, I would be greatful. Thank you.

Sounds like Matt and Molly have a chance to grow up to think for themselves. Good for them.

Well, you have it wrong - I never blamed anyone but myself. I thought "creature features" was harmless - today, I do not believe it was a harmless as I had thought at the time. Which is exactly my point. Just like the Harry Potter people today, I thought creature features was innocent, but now I am convinced there were underlying messages which my children were exposed to. My not knowing was not an excuse, just an explanation.
However, years later, when they were all born again and serving God, I realized I hadn't done such a bad job - after all, what better gift can you give to your child than to teach them to accept Jesus and eternal life.

No offense, but this still fails to explain the preponderance of children who were exposed to these sorts of things, yet turned into fine, upstanding young citizens. Is that to suggest that your children were somehow more suceptible to any percieved "satanic influence" in Dr. Tongues Evil House of Pancakes?
It still sounds like there is some scapegoating going on, even if it is by proxy...

Look -- my only criticism of you is your rather silly notion that "creature feature" leads to drugs.

If that's the only criticism you can find, I guess I should consider myself lucky!!
