Secondly -- and this is certainly tin foil stuff -- but is it possible that the people who thought they saw fuel being dumped down from the plane may actually have seen something like tracers going up from a modern, high-speed Gatling gun? (Since nobody would have _expected_ to see any such thing, they may have mis-interpreted what they saw. From what I've read, modern versions of such "low tech" weapons are capable of literally "cutting off" an engine or piece of wing.)Uh, fuel would appear to be a white mist. Tracers from a Gatling gun would be a glowing arc. Very different.
