The Red "Double" Cross is now claiming that they will refund anyone's donation, that believes that they were misled into giving to the Liberty Fund.

It's too late for me.

I fell for their bait and switch back in 1993, when I was told I was contributing to a "targeted" fund to aid the Midwest Flood victims. There was never any such dedicated fund. All money went into the general fund.

My money probably wound up buying lap-dances for Mohammed Atta and his friends, under some "Multi-Cultural Hootchie-Coochie Diversity Grant" program.

I can't remember which congressman, but some FReeper can, was investigating this particular bait-and-switch scam on the part of the ARC. Bill O'Reilly (sp?) had him on the show last week and I read the transcript. It may have been Billy Tauzin of LA. Anyway, you should find out and drop him a note. The congressman is slow to suggest more federal oversight (Yesss!) but wants to shine the light of day on these activities.

Kudos to Chuck Colson of Prison Fellowship. I got a request once to donate because Prison Fellowship runs Project Angel Tree. There was a note in the letter about the fact that this wouldn't be a direct gift to Project Angel Tree, but to PF, although they would use some of the funds for Project Angel Tree. I thought that was very honest of him.

Shalom.
