November 12, 2001 -- WHAT should Americans do to protect themselves?

We have all heard that we should be observant, and report strange events to the police. But one option has not been encouraged in the media, indeed, quite the opposite.

Roll Call magazine reports that, since Sept. 11, some of the strongest congressional supporters of gun control have bought guns and gotten training.

funny how a mugging can turn a liberal into a gun nut.

pre-911, i'd usually carry my .45 and cell phone. now, i always have both, and keep
the camera in the glove box. maybe a few million of us can make a difference.
it will be interesting (albeit sad) to see what happens to england with their gun laws in this respect... sigh.

shoot straight. shoot safe. practice. carry.

Good post. There should be no laws against citizens in good standing carrying on airplanes.

I am amazed at the number of 'educated' people I meet who cringe at the thought of having to defend themselves. These types want the police to protect them, even if it means giving up their God-given Constitutional rights.

We can learn a lot from Israel when it comes to defending our borders.

"funny how a mugging can turn a liberal into a gun nut."

In the realm of gun issues, this is one of the truest observations out there. I've witnessed this several times over the last few years. The leftwing gun control agenda definitely has some cracks in its foundation.

They are not "educated", they are brainwashed dolts who are dangerous to America as our founding fathers knew it.

You are right about being brainwashed. I've tried to hold a rational conversation with these people. They lose it emotionally and can't talk about this issue. They end the conversation with something like, "I'm not going to do it".

We have become a nation of cowards.

It is significant that our Founding Fathers provided for this, our current crisis, by placing the 2nd Amendment in our Constitution. We don't need Israel to show us how this works, we simply need to refer to those documents left by our Founding Fathers. It is very significant that there are those in Congress (and perhaps in the current Administration) who would deny us what the Founding Fathers would immediately grant us.

Members of Congress can carry guns around the capitol grounds.

How does a citizen protect oneself from a two-faced Congresscritter?

...by being a better shot?

But seriously folks, budda'bing'budda'boom.......

One way is to just reserve your rights rejoinable to the constitution & most of their sillyness won't be applicable to you.

Like water of a ducks back, sounds to good/simple to be true, but I've found it works just fine.

I studied at the University of Citizens for Better Government"

Where I learned, amoung other things, "I move for a motion to dismiss in anticipation of subrosa subject matter jurisdictional discrepency".
