I've often wondered about that. Some say "once saved, always saved," and others say you CAN lose your salvation. I would offer that perhaps the one who gave up on God was not truly saved at all. Salvation needs repentance and a change in your life. I see many who "accept Christ" and you see no change in their lives. They live the same old way. I say those are not truly saved. It's a bone of contention for many.
