Uhhh, I've been a customer of many industries for years, and I've never voted for any individual to maintain or lose any job in any sector of our economy... outside of elected office. We have people who are responsible for doing that job. Let them do it, and do it well. Hopefully, they will know more about this case than we do, and will take the appropriate action.
Again, my only problem is the knee-jerk reaction of "Fire da bums!" They tried to put a competitive game into a practice drill, and (safety equipment aside), they specified what was appropriate to remove. Calling it "strip" anything, and allowing the kids to go too far with it (SEVERAL shirts and one pair of shorts gone before it ended... that means it took a while for common sense to show up) were their main mistakes. Expulsion may still be called for. Let's just not make it mandatory for every mistake coaches make.
My problem is with the knee-jerk closing of the ranks to protect the bums.
It certainly was for gawking as these teachers put the students' health at risk...
Removing the knee-pads, I guess those "losers" should just suffer more injuries than the other players.
Removing the shoes, makes it more likely to slip while jumping on a smooth gym floor.
The notion that the game have no defined "end" or disqualification for players indicates that these kids were led down a path of "what comes next in this sequence, first remove your..."
3 coaches? I guess that'll give rise to the new joke "How many lesbian PE coaches does it take to monitor a game of junior girls' strip volleyball?"
Oh, the lioness protecting home and hearth trick....
Did the cops cite her for causing a vehicular accident?
Probably. I won't know for sure until I get to home and hearth...
;^)
My dad never (at least I don't think) looked at other women. But this was a spectacular scene. Here's this man going to church with his children, and a woman's top falls off right in front of him. I'll never forget it.
Mom thought it was pretty funny, too.
Yours,
The Lioness
Did they? Read it again. What they said appears to be different from what was done. The debate is whether or not the result was what was intended.
Yep. Underlying all of these things is the basic problem of schools being government run, functional monopolies, where the money is taken and applied regardless of attendance.
Actually, I hadn't thought about it, but some of the more brutal football coaches I've come across used to do this very thing. A guy messed up too much, and he got to do certain drills without pads - like a lineman that let the quarterback get sacked too much.
But yeah, as far as guy-sports, I know what you mean.

Define injuries. Knee pads stop rub-burns and little else. I used to play volleyball on asphalt in shorts. Once you learn how to land, it's not much of a problem.

Barefoot would be fine. In socks is stupid...that just invites head injuries.

The obvious flaw...but not everyone perceives how stupid others might be. Teachers should be pretty good at it, but given that there are likely "no stripping in public" rules already in place, it's a bit of a stretch.
... and if I might add, hubba hubba. ;^)
Taking up for hubby only makes you more attractive. He's a lucky guy.
Cyber is a good man! I got very lucky.
Ok, I don't deny that it is nice.....so what?
I guess I changed the subject. What I meant to decry was the use of the "error in judgment" excuse. I hear this said as if it justifies all manner of behavior. Are we supposed to say, "Error in judgment? Oh, that's OK. Anyone can make an error in judgment. It's not like you're perverted or evil or traitorous or lecherous or anything like that. Thank God it's just an error in judgment."
I do sympathize with your complusion to defend teachers.
Duly noted, and appreciated. I don't always do so... and I admit that SEVERAL times during this thread, I kept asking myself, "Do you REALLY want to pick that dog in this fight?!?!?" =^)
I just want one more, even teeny-tiny, reason to chuck 'em, and that's mostly because they had the fore-sight to delineate which articles were acceptable. In other words, they tried, even momentarily, to keep it in the realm of appropriateness, and I want to give them SOME benefit of the doubt for it. Maybe I'm a bit TOO forgiving to become administration, though. I'll understand when you lobby against me during the interview process a decade from now. =^)
