Seems kinda irresponsible to me that you would let your kid go near the dog. And if the guy stinks, so what, walk upwind of him ... its a free country! I wouldn't. Thats the point. Public lands are public lands, and people with vicious dogs should not be allowed to just stake them out to prevent me and my daughter form walking by. You are right about the "stinks" part, that was out of line.
TJ is kept on a leash. He is not roaming free and able to hurt anyone. Lucy from the City of Solano Beach told me that the incident happened when Mr. Northcut left the area for some reason and tied TJ to the flag pole. It was not something that he normally did, but the dog was left on his own to "protect" the flag pole. When a city worker approached the area to do something TJ barked at him to keep him away. He was doing what he was supposed to do...protecting the area where he lived with his master.
The fact that the city has taken advantage of this situation and blown it out of proportion does not surprise me. What you need to realize is that it took 10 years for something to happen that would give the city cause to try to move TJ and his master out of the area. It has become their excuse since they had no other.
