Odd, this article doesn't mention a thing about American support. Guess the author forgot about the HUNDREDS American of F-4's that were flown from Germany or the day and night re-supply of Israel with American transports. Then again, I guess the source says it all.
It wasn't hundreds of fighters it was 56 combat aircraft. Kissinger withheld the re-supply until he made sure Israel received a "bloody nose". It was only after the Russians started resupplying the Egyptians that Nixon gave the go ahead for the resupply.
Once Israel received the promise of resupply it enabled the reserve tank divisions to be bought into play and the counter attack to begin. There were over 500 sorties and 22,000 tons of equipment delivered during the course of the war.
