There are VA hospitals and homes he could go back to, if he wanted to. Since you expressed such an interest in his well-being, then let him camp out on YOUR front yard, or get YOUR mayor to give him a key to YOUR city so he can sleep in YOUR public parks near YOUR monuments.

Conservatives are in favor of local control, not mobocracy. They don't call for a mass email campaign, from all over the country, directed against a small township over the rumor of a local ordinance issue, referred in print only in a press release. Sheesh.

Hey dude! I wrote the President about this brother! You got a problem with that? TOO BAD! You come up with all these things which are bullsh*t solutions. First off, nobody was asking anyone of you to put this guy up in a room. ALL we ask for is that he gets his dog TJ back. This brother gave up body parts for your freedom ... you fool! But you lend credence to the meaning of the word ingrate. I suppose if we looked that up in the dictionary we'd find your picture under it. This man fought so you wouldn't have to.

This man was willing to at least try and do something patriotic by guarding the War Memorial and the flag, what have you done for your country? Thomas Northcut was harming no one, yet he was arrested and treated like a common criminal; yet we all support freedom of speech and allow traitors like Malik Shabazz to spew hate filled, anti-American invective on TV ... and do nothing!

Do you get the picture yet? If we allow the shabby treatment of just one combat veteran, or any veteran for doing something patriotic ... then we as a nation, are lost!

IF YOU LOVE YOUR FREEDOM, THANK A VET!

By the way ... I'M STILL SERVING ON ACTIVE DUTY!

"There are VA hospitals and homes he could go back to, if he wanted to."

Well, CJ, it's obvious that you not only never served in the military but probably did not even associate or know anyone who served.

Here's another with the same attitude as you about where people like this need to go:

"Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."

"Are there no prisons?" asked Scrooge.

"Plenty of prisons," said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

"And the Union workhouses?" demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

"They are. Still," returned the gentleman, "I wish I could say they were not."

"The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?" said Scrooge.

"Both very busy, sir."

"Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course," said Scrooge. "I'm very glad to hear it."

"Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude," returned the gentleman, "a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?"

"Nothing!" Scrooge replied.

"You wish to be anonymous?"

"I wish to be left alone," said Scrooge. "Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned -- they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there."

So, Mr. Scrooge, a service member who is not harming anyone, who frequents a tax-supported public place, should not be shunted aside as mere cattle. He has earned his place and, if his place is defending his flag, then that's where he should be allowed to remain.

Have you been to a VA Hospital or nursing home? No I didn't think so. Many don't have the funds to keep a Vet in for "mental illness" unless he/she might be violent. And a lot of Vets are refused entrance to VA nursing homes unless they meet stringent criteria. You see...most homes that carry the name VA aren't owned by the fed system but by corporations who want to assure themselves that they'll get paid under a poorly funded VA contract system.

You are a fool, and even that may be bragging on you. As a 100% service-connected disabled vet,I'm eligible for those VA hospitals and homes, and I tell you right now I would kill myself before I would knowlingly allow myself to be placed in either to live out my life. I am not a criminal, and I will NOT voluntarily allow myself to be put in a position where I have to live like one. Since I have no family and live alone,I have given serious thought to this as I grow older. This isn't idle speculation for me.
