It seems to be a straight count including no longer used user #s (booted off and such?) that goes back starting with Jim Robinson in November 1997. But you'd have to ask him if you want to know fatcs. I'm just deducing from what info I have, but it seems to be a highly likely deduction.

Thats you, but if you substitute a different user number and paste it into your search window, for instance "u=1" is Jim Robinson) "u=2" is no longer in use. (no current freeper by that name.) So it seems that there are no- longer-in-use user #s. Who know how many of those might be Ash or other repeat disruptors who re-register. But you have to admit, that 72,000 plus is still pretty impressive amount of users on this Constitution oriented website.
