My good friend and Free Republic regular Jeff Head spoke with me on the phone this afternoon with the great news that Pocket PCpress, a major publisher of electronic books, has expressed strong interest in Jeff's recently completed work of fiction Breath of Fire, a tale of the coming third world war. Mr. Doug Clapp of PocketPCpress wrote in his endorsement on Jeff's website:
"My company, PocketPCpress, gets to see a ton of novel submissions. Most are truly terrible...which is sad. We wish it weren't so.
We recently had the good fortune to read Dragon's Fury-Breath of Fire by Jeff Head and -- for the first time in a long, long while -- we were absolutely knocked out.
Don't be mislead by the fact that -- for now -- this is a self-published book offered only on the author's website. I'm sure this won't be the case for long. This is an amazingly accomplished, professional, techno-thriller that will make you turn page after page after page -- and enjoy every minute of it.
I could go on about plotting and characterization and all that, but I won't. This is simply a hellava great read and "right on" about what's happening in the world today. Tom Clancy now has some serious, serious competition."

Jeff went on to mention that Mr. Clapp has also put him in contact with a New York literary agent who has requested expedited delivery of a complete hard copy manuscript in anticipation of possible print publication. For those of you who may not have seen the initial announcement, excerpts from Jeff's book Breath of Fire can be found here.
This is a most noteworthy and laudable achievement and a source of pride for all of us here. It is also even further evidence that Free Republic is the beacon of American liberty which both attracts and stimulates the brightest minds to be found on the net or anywhere. Congratulations to you, Jeff !
For sure, mi amigo! Seems like we've been at this for more than 2 1/2 years. I've been a member of this forum for (not quite) 4 years. We've both seen many come and go, some giving only lip service to the cause, and fewer still who've staid the course. You, my friend, have consistantly led the way. As always, I'm proud to call you "my brother".
It is good to see others "waking up" and joining in each and every day but I sometimes wonder if it's "too little, too late". I often feel that I "slept" too long myself. It seems that I'm most effective just talking with folks who I meet in the course of my daily routine. Funny thing is, down this way, I don't have to do alot of "convincing". Just point out a few things and maybe give them a pocket copy of the DoI and Constitution, if they don't already have one.
I plan on having a copy of your book under my Christmas tree. (Autographed, of course!) 8-)
I'll be in touch.
Regards
Thanks for the notice.
And GOOD FORTUNE to You Jeff, I can't think of anyone more deserving.
I can't wait to get my copy, it will be a personal Treasure.
Peace to both of You
Concerning reply #7, I hope You don't mind me mentioning Free Republics legal problems, and their need for funds concerning Free Republics users reprinting articles. I honestly don't see the difference in what's done on FR and me sending an article out of a local paper to a relative. But the other side will try anything to shut us down.
When "WE" lose our forum of discussion, there's nothing left but action. Take names and kick ass!

I was in your neighborhood for a couple of days in late October. If they hadn't kept me running I'd have tried to look you up. Maybe next trip. Has Regina left the hospital ? Regards to you.
Echoes of Broadway's great composer Richard Rodgers. One of his tunes: "The sweetest sounds I've ever heard are still inside my head."
I'm gonna write that down and tape it to my 'puter, my FRiend.
Sincere thanks...MUD
Heh heh heh...no argument from this corner of the globe...MUD
This is great I really do want to see this in bookstores and soon. Then to the top of the NYT best seller list.

How is your solo project coming along? I would think it might be useful. Has there been any renewed or more urgent interest since 9/11?
We should do lunch again before the weather sets in.
Lunch is terrific idea. I'll drop you a FRmail note. Best to you, GEC !
It's always good to hear from You.I wish You the best and will include your Father in my prayers.
Peace
