Actually San Pedro is not an incorporated city. It's part of L.A., as for example, Brooklyn is part of N.Y. However, there is a drive among our residents here to separate from L.A., since the port provides much of L.A.'s revenues while getting a disproportionately small share of benefits. I think it would be a mistake though, because a separate San Pedro would vote heavily Democratic and REALLY make a mess of things for us.

Actually San Pedro is not an incorporated city. Thanks. I definitely didn't know that, although I should have, because I know LA is full of neighborhoods that have distinct names but are actually part of the city (e.g., Canoga Park).
The only thing I can remember from the San Pedro area from my time in LA was when two young Japanese nationals were murdered in a supermarket parking lot, with huge media attention following. I assume that the entire harbor area is not that dangerous a place to be.
