DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's King Fahd has appointed one of his brothers, Prince Nawaf bin Abdul-Aziz, a former finance minister, to head the kingdom's intelligence apparatus, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

A royal decree published by SPA late on Friday said Prince Turki Al-Faisal had asked to be relieved from his position as general intelligence chief. He had held the post since 1977.

The decree did not give the reason of the resignation of Turki, a brother of foreign minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

US-educated Nawaf also served as commander of the royal guard, an adviser to the late king Faisal and head of the royal court.

American hospital in Dubai denies treating bin Laden

(Dubai, October 31)

The American Hospital in Dubai categorically denied reports on Wednesday that the world's most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, underwent treatment there in July for a kidney complaint.

"He was never a patient here for any days," chief executive office Bernard Koval told AFP.

"Osama bin Laden has never been here. He's never been a patient and he's never been treated here. This is too small a hospital for someone to be snuck through the backdoor," he said.
