It could be disinformation. That wouldn't be surprising in a war.
Maybe as a morale killer for the radicals in Pakistan, a statement that a coup will not result in obtaining nukes?
Or maybe Im being too smart by half, and it WAS a subversive leaker and a treasonous reporter....
