Please explain "CHEESE" to me.

Ok,
As a relatively new Freeper, I haven't a clue to what CHEESE means.... yes, I know the stuff a person can eat. But there are the "Must like cheese" statements and the like. I did a search and there was no good explanation that I could find. Anyone caring to explain on this vanity post, please enlighten a new freeper.

pr0n Hey, thanks for the etymology. I once did a search for the term's origin, but came up empty. But, I think at the time that I had misinterpreted the '0' zero character as as set of parentheses (from working with a character set that made them appear as a similar shape).

"Cottage cheese isn't cheese..."Not so! I use our leftover milk sometimes to create a very delicious cottage cheese with rennet. However we do not live in a cottage...so perhaps I should call it Raised Ranch Cheese?

It's just a codeword a handful of people use to say that your post or thread is incoherent or vanity. It's an insult to be on the receiving end of the cheese remark.

I think Steve0113 came closest to a straight answer.
Usually you will see the cheese comments in response to posts that sound like whinning, in someones opinion, to which a frequent response is, "what kind of cheese would you like with that whine?"
Basically, its a cheap pun carried to extremes. But, it's evidently fun, and you'll notice more cheese later in the evening, for reasons you can probably guess.
