Now, why do you think I want to read a piece by Andrew Sullivan, of all people, about how God saved W from immoral behavior and gave him a great wife? I mean, really?

Maybe it means there is hope for Andrew as well?

Andrew Sullivan can be found probably by doing a simple search. He does all the cable political shows and I'd say he's in his thirties. He abhores the Clintons, etc. I posted on too many threads today so I don't know who said what. lol

Someone did state that TD Jakes was a heretic. That individual was the only poster who annoyed me today and didn't reply when I asked for their theological background.

For the record, I minored in theology at college. Please at least take a look at what the Christian Research Journal has to say. Look for articles on Jakes at www.equip.org.

As for the failure to reply -- I do have better things to do on a Sunday than sit around getting annoyed over posts. FreeRepublic is entertainment, which takes second place to my actual life.

I have a life too, I am breathing right now. lol You simply didn't explain why TD Jakes is a heretic. Since I have only seen him once on tv, I am curious.

Also faith that a win will bring a most just peace to the area.

I don't think it's too great a stretch to see this war as a religious one. It's between the frenzied fanaticism of one man, and the calm, sustaining faith of another. I have no doubt which one will crack first.

Maybe it means there is hope for Andrew as well?

Well, I agree with the last seven words, but not the second and third. (c8

In other words, I utterly and without hesitation believe there is hope for Andrew Sullivan, as for all sinners. Paul specifically says that the Corinthian church included people who had been, among other things, homosexuals, before being cleansed, redeemed, and justified by Christ through His work on the Cross (1 Corinthians 6).

This article, however, gives me no hope that Mr. Sullivan is about to avail himself of that freeing grace, however. He does not regard his homosexual behavior as a sin, of which he must repent, for which he must be forgiven, and from which he must be set free. He's proud of his God-defying sin, embraces it, flaunts it, cloaks it in religious language.

No, while W saw his drunken behavior as a sin-pattern from which he needed deliverance, Sullican sees his sexual perversity as a blessing for which he needs acceptance and toleration.

Chasmic difference, there.

Whatever others think, this is what Bush believes; not in a messianic way but as one of those odd occurrences that the Almighty sometimes decides to bestow on the unlikeliest of people.

Despite what anyone thinks of President Bush, it should be clear to everyone that it will take more than a great man to carry out this mission. I for one am glad that this President understands that there can be no success if G-d does not grant it. That kind of humility is probably the most important ingredient that makes W. "The man for this hour."

Shalom.

I agree. My mother-in-law married an alcoholic and had an alcoholic brother. She took the fact that he totally abstains (he drank 7-Up at the Vicente Fox State Dinner!) that he was truly an alcoholic and is fearful of that temptation.

It certainly is to be admired and respected that he quit so completely the way he did (cold turkey).

Most people have problems with him because he is Pentecostal.

An article I read had problems with him because he said the concept of three separate entities in the Trinity should be 3 separate revelations of one God. Jakes doesn't think there is an actual person sitting at the right hand (side) of the Father.

I think it's a very awkward walk across a tightrope when trying to use literal translation on things in the Bible and get too hung up on them. It's anthropomorphism and it's convenient for making a point (which is what the Bible tries to do).

Sorry I used jargon on my original post #33. I called Jakes a modalist, which means he doesn't support the Trinity -- one of the essentials of the historic Christian faith. Again, take a look at www.equip.org for a more thorough discussion of the matter.

Our president strikes me as a very patient man who's not afraid of being mocked while he plots the final blow.

Bush mentioned that he thought the election hassles were to teach him patience. Looks like it was successful. I'll never forget that as we set by the TV engrossed in each and every turn, sitting on pins and needles, Bush was at his ranch working on getting his people in place to take over, working out details of his agenda. He turned the election battle over to others to handle and went about his business. Amazing.

Thanks for the clarification. I am glad that Dubya is talking about his faith publicly. I am getting weary and do not watch any more news pieces about Islam. They are trying hard to convince us that Islam means peace. I just have the picture of the twin towers coming down in my mind and I do not care to know any more about fundamentalist muslims. I must go. John Ashcroft is giving a press conference about a new threat. True peace be with you.

Does Jakes not believe in Jesus? I am glad that Dubya is professing his faith. I have had enough muslim indoctrination and I can see where the Koran can be twisted very easily. Just convince a brainwashed muslim child that killing and suicide are good deeds. I know one muslim and that lives near me and I don't see her very often. She showed me a Koran in English. She and her son are all that I care to know. It may sound closed minded but globally, they want everyone who isn't them to be dead.

I know that there IS hope for Andrew, if he chooses to accept it. What struck me about the article was how impressed he seemed to be over President Bush's complete lifestyle change, which made me think that perhaps one day he might choose to make one of his own.

He believes in Jesus. He believes that Jesus was a manifestation of God and not a separate entity. He thinks that praying to Jesus is basically the same thing as praying to God.
