What is starvation supposed to look like? A lot of them don't look like skeletons until they are actually dying, and those African children also have other diseases brought on by malnourishment and unsanitary conditions that makes them look that way--i.e. dysentery. Undernourished kids don't necessarily look skeletal.
Are you begrudging a few Pop Tarts to the "evil" Afghan children? If you want to feel better about the situation, watch that National Geographic special with Stephen Junger that was filmed last year. There's a couple of "really" starving Afghan babies on that program who are too weak to even cry. I'm sure you'd love to watch it.
