A group of Afghan children collect packets of food aid after an U.S. aircraft completed a night time air drop over a refugee camp in Kumkishlyak in Northern Afghanistan, October 25, 2001. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Thursday dismissed as U.S. propaganda a Pentagon statement that they intended to poison food dropped by U.S. aircraft or provided by humanitarian groups to Afghan civilians. The Pentagon said on Wendesday that it had received information the Taliban may poison the food supplies to Afghan civilians and blame the United States. REUTERS/Vasily Fedosenko

What dear sweet faces. I can see my own kids in them. It's such a tragedy that the adults are so confused, and the kids have to suffer and scrounge like this. Makes my heart ache.

Only through this kind of compassion and persistance, can countries be transformed... South America, Phillipines, Spain, etc... all are results of successful missionary efforts...

I agree..I have gone on Missions, have you? I donate money to mission (and not a dollar) do you?

The countries you list are very poor and in as much need as are the kids in Afganistan..so send them your dollars. They have open and grateful leaders..

The Muslims hate us,they teach their children to hate us.

I favor aid to them the if Americans can carry it in and bring their Bibles with them..a minimal freedom

I never realized that we have an office of US propoganda till the President tried to sell us on the lie that this isnt about Islam

There was an election last year, and Bill Clinton is no longer President. George W. Bush is the President now. I know, it's hard to get over a CIC who does everything by polls and whose only goal in life is to get away with whatever he can, but those eight long years are over.

We have a NEW President now. Cynicism and mistrust are ailments for which there IS recovery.

?? Rnmomof7 was questioning the authenticity of the pictures, not the value of feeding the children. You made some leap in there that didn't seem warranted to me.

HLL it is more frightening to me that a person who is an RN and a Christian has so little compassion for Afghan children. It really doesn't matter if their stomachs aren't as bloated as African children. It really doesn't matter the religion or country of birth. It does matter that Christ holds all children in His loving hands.

I guess a some nurses were trained with an air of arrogance not compassion. I guess some Christians are in name only not in acts. I guess some people are really sad for their heart is fenced in by walls so thick and tall that nothing will bring it to humility and human kindness. I don't feel sorry for people like you ... as I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. I do feel empathy for that is the Christ-like action that the New Testament teaches me.

I wish you'd quit harping on this imaginary "US office of propaganda." I doubt we would have time to airdrop some Rangers with cameras behind lines, looking for cute Afghan kids to send back to the Heartland.

Or, maybe you're suggesting that some Hollywood mogul set up the whole thing on a sound stage in Burbank, an even more ludicrous proposition.

Furthermore, if you remember WWII you probably remember the Berlin Airlift. I think Bush is being very smart in doing these things - the Children's Fund, the food drop and the transistor radio drop for Radio Free Afghanistan.

He's shaping opinion in the world court, too, you realize.

Plus, you seem to harbor a real animosity towards Muslims. That, in this particular Christian's mind, is no better than the anti-semitism displayed by the Islamists.

NO like the liberals you send in your tax dollars and then say how wonderful and compassionate you are..Christ washed feet..He didnt hire someone else to do it..Take your money and your time..go to Africa and feed some of those starving kids....or wrong color? not real cute?

So how about a vacation on the garbage dumps in Mexico next summer? Not as much fun as a cruise..but it is a real mission ,not a staged political feel good event

If they could take in a group of Americans next week I would go at my own expense..this is a PR PC event nothing more..but het ya feel good and moral and noble right? Feed the children of the enemy and you can feel self righteous

Oh Puleeeze, Afghan children have absolutely NOTHING to do with smallpox. If there is a smallpox epidemic it will be the doing of Osama Bin Laden. Save your hatred for someone who deserves it and stop with the demonizing of innocents. Frankly, I see very little difference between the hatred you are showing and the hatred that the Islamic Fundamentalist are showing.

That's the main reason I believe your are an Islamic plant trying to stir up trouble. I don't believe your story one bit.

Spoken like a True Democrat. Any of my non-Republican friends and relatives, when faced with the latest misdeed/screw-up/scandal associated with one of their elected officials, always comes back with "Aahh, they're all crooks".

Barbra Streisand. There ARE good people in politics and you might recognize them by the company they keep.
