It was reported today that the Squaw Peak Hiking Trails org. has issued a warning to it's members to stay away from the popular trails on Squaw Peak in North Central Phoenix after several sightings of mideastern men with " HEAVY ORANGE BACKPACKS" were sited at all hours, including at 4:30 a.m. hiking on and around the mountain! Local F.B.I. says there is no cause for alarm, as has local law enforcment!

I could not even get thru to the ticket office! How did you score tickets????????? I lucked out. My in-laws called me at 11:30pm Sunday and said they were able to get tickets online. Either I'm the luckiest D-Backs Fan alive, or the Good Lord wants to call me home! :-)
I've been preaching to everyone not to succumb to fear, so I'm not going to. Osama can kiss my royal Finnish ass... I'm going to see Curt Schilling pour some desert heat on the Yanks!
P.S. Schilling's a fellow Shadow Mtn. HS grad -- my school. Wish I had befriended him back then!

Great. The same Phoenix chapter of the FBI who is telling us to chill out, is the same one who let that other creep slip by, the Bin Laden "connection" that lived in Tempe who knew/associated w/ Hani Hanjoor (and denied it). Even though we finally rounded up that goat-roper, it doesn't make me sleep any easier in this town. I moved here for the weather, I hope it doesn't get any warmer this weekend. This is very disturbing, even if it didn't pan out.

Help me out here. It's more efficient to hike the bombs through the mountains in conspicuous groups of men with big orange backpacks than to drive them to the planned detonation points why? Because you get the added benefit of exercise?

Paradise Valley High class of 1975. I think that the D-backs take it 4 games to 2, because NY will underestimate our ability! Once they make a mistake they will just keep making more!:>)

Another personalizing note: I essentially lived next door to late terrorist hijacker Hani Hanjoor. I lived in a condo in Mesa in Summer '98; according to Mesa traffic police records, Hani Handj*b lived in the apartment complex adjacent to me at that time. I hope my dog crapped on his porch while I was there. Moron.

Obviously unrelated to 9/11 and even if it were, it is an isolated incident.>>>>>

ART BELL ALERT: He is buddy-buddy with this guy Hoagland, former consultant to NASA/CBS (gotta shake out the mothballs and cobwebs on this one) and a BIG pusher on the face on Mars theory.
Anyway Hoaxland (as he's known on newsgroups.A.F.A-B) says that one of the suitcase bombs was hidden in the Washington Monument during renovations.
I recall from an album of old radio programs that the stone contribed by the Vatican was radioactive, "but wasn't dangerous".
Much like the widening of I-93 in NH a few years ago produced low-level radioactive "waste" in the form of granite rock conventionally blasted out of the way.
For what it's worth.

I did a google search, and there was this url from some house subcommitte, and their "protected witness" testified, there was a strong possibility that there were already suitcase nukes in the US. This testimony was from '98.

Paradise Valley High class of 1975. A Trojan huh? So did you go to Greenway for middle school? After I graduated from Greenway Jr. High, all my buds went to PV, I got stuck at SM. Ugh. Small world!
BTW, I agree with your pick of D-backs in 6. The Yanks TOTALLY underestimate us.

"There is no reason for anybody when they see a Middle Easterner here or there to panic," said Ihsan Saadeddin, spokesman for the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix. "There are 8 million Middle Easterners in this country, and they cannot be treated like this."OH YES THEY CAN, IHSAN. AND THEY SHOULD BE. AND THEY WILL BE.
I loved this. When is someone from this "community" going to stand up and say the UNDERSTAND our concern? Frankly, the more I read stuff like this, the less worried I am about how they want to be "treated". I am no racist, but the profiling they are so offended by is perfectly reasonable in a case like this. It amazes me that this person cannot SEE that.

People really do need to pay attention. There is a quite literal meaning to being "on guard." All of us need to be on guard.
Don't just get in the car, drive to the store, walk in, get what you want, walk out and drive back home. Look around your neigborhood before you get in the car. Have a look at as much as you can on your way to the store. On the way in the store, look to see if anyone is standing outside the doors, who is waiting in cars. In the store, watch peoples hands, notice who is around you and what they are doing.
You don't have to be obnoxious or paranoid about it. Just make it a part of your new lifestyle to be observant.

There is nothing you can do, or are allowed to do. So maybe you should think about packing up the family, take your birth certificates, photo albums, important papers, and go on a little vacation during that time. You have to be a survivor, you have to survive the terrorists and your government, it's doable.
Let your instincts be your guide, if you feel this is a reasonable threat, take off.
