It was reported today that the Squaw Peak Hiking Trails org. has issued a warning to it's members to stay away from the popular trails on Squaw Peak in North Central Phoenix after several sightings of mideastern men with " HEAVY ORANGE BACKPACKS" were sited at all hours, including at 4:30 a.m. hiking on and around the mountain! Local F.B.I. says there is no cause for alarm, as has local law enforcment!

I think that the D-backs take it 4 games to 2, because NY will underestimate our ability! Once they make a mistake they will just keep making more!:>) LOL! Yankees will sweep it.

"It's good for people to be cautious and to be alert and to report suspicious things," said Marwan Ahmad, publisher of Arizona Muslim Voice, "but if this group of men was Caucasian, doing the same and carrying the same backpacks, would there be a press release?" I've been thinking about this and it occurred to me how thoroughly the Clinton era immersed our nation in the religion of political correctness. What do you bet that at least one passenger on each of those doomed planes felt uncomfortable about those Middle Eastern highjackers. If they were still alive they might say, "There was just something about them. They made my skin crawl." But, because of political correctness, they did nothing, said nothing.
So, with apologies to Marwan Ahmad, thanks to his Islamic brethren, we in America now live in a different era. Screw political correctness. It wasn't a bunch of white guys whose suicidal actions killed 5500 innocent Americans. It was people of his own religion and race. I'd rather be alive and on the wrong side of the PC-police.

Its survival time, bay-bee!There's a great book that came out years ago called "The Gift of Fear", written by a security expert named Gavin de Becker.
The essential message of the book is to urge people to pay attention to their instincts. People must not allow things like embarrassment and the pressure to be "nice" to override their God-given sense of fear when it's appropriate to be alarmed. If people see something they think might be wrong, they ought not feel stupid (and they ought not be ridiculed) - they need to report it.
After all, if you're dead, how good can you feel about having been PC?

No, you guys were right about the orange cases and launch stuff. It was near Travis AFB where Mr. Bush stopped on his way to China.....and during that time....there is (or was) a government surplus (-----something Island) near there too. Any way we've been TOLD to keep our eyes open and we can open our eyes whether we are told to or not. The 'know it alls' that poo-poo this have nothing to loose with their big mouths and smug remarks....others could have everything to loose. We are at WAR.... and it's not going to be civil this time.....I'd rather take a chance on looking silly, than take a chance on being dead. NOT like chicken little but more like an informed AMERICAN. There are stories of those who thought for themselves and DIDN'T die at the WTC..... CVS

I thought Hoagland was speculating that a suitcase-sized nuke could have been secreted into the Washington Monument during the restoration project a while back. Part of his speculation was that the anthrax threat activity was a diversion (albeit serious as a heart attack) to keep the investigative and public safety agencies preoccupied while another BIG destructive deadly event by the terrorist cells comes to fruition.

Just checked a map, and it is ~7.5 miles from BankOne, which is, as you point out, still a fair ways off.
Also of note, it is ~12.5 miles form Sun Devil Stadium, and ~20 miles from the Phoenix speedway. The Phoenix international airport lies about 10 miles away, and is directly between BankOne, and Sun Devil
(*hangs coathangers from ceiling*)Now, did someone say that flights going into the airport fly right over these hiking hills?

"There are 8 million Middle Easterners in this country, and they cannot be treated like this."This is all I've been hearing from the Arab-american communities. It seems hard to even find one who openly supports any kind of retaliation for Bloody Tuesday. Does anyone else think we may have more enemies on the home front than we first thought?
"but if this group of men was Caucasian, doing the same and carrying the same backpacks, would there be a press release?"
Last I heard, Arabs are caucassian. As for white Americans, well, they don't appear to be in the habit of killing innocent civilians for the hell of it.

ROFL
I went to St. Mary's - all 12 years.
Baby Boomer, recovering Hippie Liberal Democrat.
Younger brother told me, when he was older, that he quit the alter boy gig because of an overly friendly priest. He had good instincts and nothing happened. But it truly is an epidemic, sick bastards.
Cruised central in my 53 chevy! ahhh
