Here's how yesterday went between the Republicans and the Democrats:

Republican wins: a signal that drilling in ANWAR will be passed by the Senate late this year or early next year ( via a Reuters story published on FR earlier today); probable delay of a new Farm Bill until spring despite Daschle wanting one sooner

Democrat wins: appropriations process un-blocked by Senate Republicans; judges continue to be held up

In D.C., it's all about deals. Ugly, but true.

"In D.C., it's all about deals. Ugly, but true."

Daschle: "We're going to rape the American people, and steal their pets."

Lott: "Oh, please don't take their pets. Please, please, please, pretty please."

Daschle: "We're going to rape the American people, and we're working hard to protect their pets."

Lott: "I can live with that."

Bush: "That's what bipartisanship is about -- getting things done."

Lott: "P.S. I turned off Jeffords' microphone a coupla times. hehehehheheheh"
