Looking at pictures of the disaster and laughing are an unacceptable mix, no matter what language.

I disagree. My co-workers and I were laughing at the utter, inexpressable stupidity of Bryant Gumbel and Dan Rather (discussing whether it could be accidental AFTER the second plane impact) even as we watched it live. In no way could this be construed as our approval of the attacks.
