Sabertooth: They tested positive for exposure. This means that they breathed in some spores, but have not yet developed the disease. These are the people who definately need antibotics because if we wait until they get sick, it is too late to help them.

Piquaboy: To my knowledge, the first symptoms of inhalation anthrax don't appear until 2-6 days [or sometimes much longer] by which time it is too late. Some people who handled the powder reported a burning sensation in their hands; but it was never clear to me whether this was a property of antrhax, whatever else was in the powder, or just a panic reaction.
