If you recall, the Rocklin school district, NE of Sacramento, is being sued by the ACLU for displaying "God Bless America" on a rolling marquee sign in front of an elementary school.

The United States House of Representatives has now weighed in.

In a 404-0 non-binding resolution, the House urges ALL public schools in the Nation to display "God Bless America".

ACLU - Try To Take This One On!!

Good morning all.

A quick note here before I head out for a good part of the day.

I have been a stamp collector for a long time and have done quite a bit of purchasing of items at auction. One of my regular auction catalogs came in the mail yesterday and included some items which I don't see often. They don't interest me but thought they might be of interest to some of you.

The catalog includes postal items with famous autographs and a few that are not postal items. Among these are: David Burnet, 1st President, Republic of Texas - 10 signed letters approx value $10000

James Monroe signature of 1 May 1800 - approx value $300

Timothy Pickering - SecofState - 29 Aug 1798 - approx value $1500

Other signaures include those of:

Omar N Bradley; Mark W Clark; Charles Edison; Husband E Kimmel; Curtis E LeMay; Douglas MacArthur; George Marshall; Chester Nimitz; Edward, Duke of Windsor (and one with both Duke and Duchess signatures); Gerald Ford; Grace Kelly;

Ronald Reagan - signature on California Centennial Cacheted First Day Cover, at a later date, Earl Warren 29c stamp added and cancelled for First Day of Issue - Approx value $200

Franklin D Roosevelt; Eleanor Roosevelt; Harry Truman; Earl Warren;

Lots of sports personalities including Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio; Ty Cobb, etc.

Others: Richard E. Byrd; R. E. Peary; Gene Tunney; Amelia Earhart.

If any of you might have an interest in this please freepmail me. The mail auction takes place November 7-8, 2001 in New York City. Pictures of items are available in catalog.

Except for the ones specifically mentioned above, most of the items have a value of $75 to $300-500. All items are sold on a highest bid basis.

That is all!
