Suppose it had fallen to the Clinton administration to organize American response to the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks? What would have been the level of trust the White House might have commanded in the eyes of the nation and the world, in the wake of -- leave aside pardons -- "that woman Ms. Lewinsky," the meaning of "is," disbarment, hair's-breadth escapes, and a variety of other trust-busting considerations?

Bingo. This author wins the gold star.

I have been told many times over in the last few days, in various ways or words, by my neighbors and other contacts that they confessed they voted for Al Gore, but are sure as heck glad that Bush is the one in charge. No joke. I'm actually feeling kinda hopeful in some respects about many of the previously-clueless coming over from the Dark Side of the Force (liberalism/socialism/closet communism).
