The Scriptures were (and still are) in rebellion against those "authorities".
Hus was treated rather poorly, don't you think? He was promised safe passage to discuss his differences with the Council of Basel. When he got there, he was imprisoned and executed. Its really no wonder that Luther did not try to reconcile, given how the Church dealt with Hus.
Yep, and if the doctrine is not scriptural, it's garbage. If it's not led of the Spirit, it's garbage. Which is why I repudiate anything that cannot be found entirely consistant with the word and spirit of God.
Finding no support from popes
The pope is nothing special. He's an elected official with no more spiritual authority than a rock. I say that not to be fesecious; but, because he makes proclamations and defends proclamations of others before him that are in conflict with scripture. Paul's Gas from dinner was more authoritative than any utterance from a pope in this regard.
, councils, doctors or fathers,
what, like the sanhiedren ... Learned men are no match for the Spirit or the Word of God.
but only from heretics
This is where you run right off the plantation. You can't address or admit the fact that men follow God's Spirit and Will. It's as foreign a concept to you as Gills are to baboons. To you it's all thinking and philosophy because that's what the RCC does. Your philosophy has to be better than everyone else's. You run dead into a wall when comparing your philosophies with the Word of God and God's will in motion. So it's really handy to keep those straw man arguments around, huh..
