Paul was not afraid of losing his salvation: his subject is still Christian liberty.

Your missing the point. Paul was stressing that he could still lose out. Only when he stated he was ready to be offered up did he finally allow himself to say he had kept the faith. Only he that endures the suffering in his life to the end of it will be saved. I think it was Shakespere who said "There is many a slip betwixt the cup and the lip."

Shakesphere is not God:)

I have read alot of your posts, and some of them make me very uncomfortable, and I'm very hesitant to get into a discussion with you, nothing personal.

But I believe what Paul is saying here is we need to be careful of our lives so we will be a good witness for Christ. Look at the way some on this thread react to Baptist drinking. It is not actually that drinking is a sin, but it does ruin a persons witness. People won't take them seriously. We can be saved, but if our witness is not good we will loose rewards in heaven because we will be ineffective in carrying out Gods work on earth.
