Payment of money directly or indirectly for "indulgences" was stopped as an abuse.

Unless you count sunday morning preachers and their prayer lines. "Thank you, we will forward your prayers to God. May I have your credit card number to cover the shipping and handling."

I meant stopped by the Catholic Church. You are right that there are still those who take advantage in the name of God. You also could be in danger of harming yourself with that ax you are swinging. I mean, our own preachers ask for money on Sunday too.

I have never, in any Church I have attended, been asked to pay to pray.

In the Catholic church I have been asked for money to help support a good cause, feed the poor, help paint a neighbors fence etc, but never as a way of helping my prayers get to God.

Did not mean to imply all TV preachers just those that appear to go over the line like Jim Bakker in the late eighties
