You give me an idea. We should ALL take turns going to a nearby house of worship that is similar or the same denomination of the others here. Then we can report back on our impressions.

Who wants in? Not me, I have enough trouble keeping myself straight after reading the stuff on here, I need a good dose of simple gospel by Sun. and Wed.:)
NO actually I have a friend who invited me to her church and I was tempted to go. It's chrismatic, I have never been to a chrismatic church. She told me they do alot of jumping around and speaking in tongues. But to tell the truth, I am a bit afraid of that stuff, and just to be going out of curiosity sake is wrong, IMO, so I haven't gone yet.

Well, I attend Mass on a fairly regular basis. Although, several of the parishioners have suggested that even the closeness of the Catholic Church to the Lord may not be sufficient to save my Lutheran soul.

Honestly I'm having a hard enough time making it to my own service right now, what with my wife having problems and the baby still being quarantined for safety during flu season. (We don't take her anywhere except to grandparents' house.) But I'd be game for giving it a shot sometime. Probably in the spring.

Who wants in?I'd be interested. There's a Greek Orthodox parish in my town and I've always been interested going there. The trick is when. Next Wed is Ash Wednesday and I wouldn't want to miss a Sunday in Lent at my own parish. I've been to enough non-liturgical services in the past to know that's not for me. Seems like a "one of these days" kind of thing.

That's an interesting idea, I think I'd be game. Can't make any promises about how soon I'll get to it, but it would be a good learning experience. There's actually a Baptist Church just down the road from me, I'll have to get the name.
I was in an RC Church recently, the Friday after 9/11. Closest Church to my office to go say prayers at lunchtime. I've also been to the UU Church in the area recently. Let me tell you, you haven't seen a liberal church 'til you've seen the UU Church of the Amherst/Northampton area of Massachusetts. Yikes!

Who wants in?Definitely, count me in.

I did that once as an assignment in college: our assignment was to go to a group we were least like and try to fit in. My girlfriend and I attended a Pentecostal Tent Revival. Someday I'll tell ya that story.
As for your idea, I'm in provided I don't have to touch any snakes.

I'll try to make it to the Bethel Baptist, is that okay? I've gone to the 1st Baptist a lot but never to the Bethel Baptist.
I'd choose a synagogue but the nearest one is over 55 mi away.

Who wants in? OK, I'm willing to go to a Jewish service. I know there are many synagogues/temples around here, so there should be at least one or two orthodox/conservtive ones. How about Livingston, NJ or Manhattan?

Who wants in? I do it every week -- my wife and 2 kids and I go to the 9am service of North Shore Christian Fellowship on the North Shore of Oahu, and then leave there at 10:30 to drive to Mililani for Mass at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist at 11am.
My impression? Personally, I don't particularly care for NSCF's style of worship -- I'm not big into clapping hands and singing for a 1/2 hour, although regularly the pastor has some useful words of advice for Christian living. But the style distaste is due, no doubt, to my being partial to the Tridentine Rite Mass.

I've wanted to do that many times, but unfortunately I'm quite engaged at my church leading worship music, so it's tough for me to get away.

Not me! Been there. Done that.

I had a nightmare once about being in a Catholic church. The Mary statues seemed to want to GET ME. It was terrible.
