"nobdysfool" wasn't exactly being nice either. I'll admit our guy was out of line. "nobdysfool" stepped up to the plate an delivered a huge pile of manure, the likes of which we have been discussing for ages. To even think that his recycled hash was worthy of response was his biggest sin.

How far back would I have to go to see the mud being slung?

If ... Johnson pitches Game 6 like he pitched Game 2 ...

Schilling's recent playoff experience is impressive, and I think he has a shot (35/65) at winning Game 4. I'm not as sanguine about Johnson's recuperative ability. IMO, he won't be ready to pitch Game 5. And if they do use him, they'll lose one of their must-win starts from this dynamic duo (I truly admire them).

Besides, I'm looking forward to honoring the Yankees at the first ticker-tape parade past Ground Zero. It will be a security nightmare, but maybe if I show up on Broadway with my sleeping bag 48 hours in advance ...

The first pro player and team made up entirely of professionals came from Western Pennsylvania.

The first game with a paid player was determined by the NFL to be a game between teams from Jeannette and Latrobe. (The history is disputed by some other folks, but we ain't listening.) I live right outside of Jeannette, and Latrobe is the world-famous home of Arnold Palmer and Rolling Rock beer.

Nothing in scripture tells us that the faithful departed are indifferent to our needs just because we cannot see them anymore.

I can find nothing is scripture that tells us that they are concerned with them, either, as they are no longer in this world. I can find nothing in scripture to indicate that we should pray to them, asking them to pray for us, either.

I agree that there is nothing in scripture that makes me think we should pray to anyone dead. But in Rev. 21:4 it says "God will wipe away all tears from their eyes." Why would we cry in heaven. I THINK, this is just my thoughts no scripture back up, the only reason anyone would cry in heaven is because they realize some of their loved ones are not there, or because they have been shown at the Bemus Seat judgement all the opportunities they had to witness to people and didn't and now those people are lost. But thank God it seems (I think) that God will eventually take those memories away, because heaven wouldn't be heaven with that kind of sadness for people.

JH, read the posts more carefully . If a man chooses not to be with God, he will get his way and NOT be with God . It is called HELL. Purgatory is for those who choose God, but have blemishes that need to be cleaned up .
I like to think of purgatory as a sort of training school for Heaven . They have "art appreciation" courses for children to teach them the finer points of art so they can really appreciate good art and music . We all need some "training" to appreciate the joy of spending eternity just Praising GOD .
Note:This is just my very humble OPINION .

Well, we say around the 1500s, but they say shortly after the last apostle died. :-)

The Steelers and Eagles fielded a joint team for that season (called the "Steagles" by fans).

Hey! That's one of my favorite trivia bits. The Steagles. LOL

And that is the reason behind the logo being on only one side of the Steelers helmets, is it not?

I don't expect a Game 7, but if there must be one, I give it to the deeper team.

BTW, if it were any other AL team besides the Yankees, I'd be rooting for the Diamondbacks. (Which reminds me: Why are they called the Arizona Diamondbacks instead of the Phoenix Diamondbacks?)

if it goes to game 7, then the Yankees will win. I don't see a game 7 happening. The D'Backs pounded Mussina, who has been the best pitcher for the Yankees over the last few months, and Pettite got a rare loss. Plus with Clemens sruggling during the postseason and not knowing which El Duque will show up, the Yankees will have their work cut out for them.

Latrobe is the world-famous home of Arnold Palmer and Rolling Rock beer.

I've heard once before, but have forgotten ... what's with the "33" inside the label of a Rolling Rock?

BTW ... the Sherman/Denison TX area (where I grew up) was one of the test markets for Rolling Rock when it came to this part of the world. It caught on rather quickly.

Who knows? Maybe it sounds better? Like the Texas Rangers as opposed to the Arlington Rangers. While we're at it, is the NY part of the Yanks name referring to the state or the city?

Yes, I did. I based it on Hebrews chs. 9 & 10.

You should know first that Jews do not consider sacrifice alone, without repentance, to be efficacious for the forgiveness of sin. But there is plenty of evidence from the Hebrew scriptures that sin was not merely covered, but removed. A sampling:

And all its fat he shall burn on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings; so the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and he shall be forgiven. (Leviticus 4:26)

for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before the LORD (Leviticus 16:30)

And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before the LORD for his sin which he has committed; and the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him. (Leviticus 19:22)

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

I, I am He
who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25)

I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud,
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you. (Isaiah 44:22)

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin! (Psalm 51:2)

Thou didst forgive the iniquity of thy people;
thou didst pardon all their sin. (Psalm 85:2)

But if a wicked man turns away from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness which he has done he shall live. (Ezekiel 18:21)

If God forgives, does He still hold our sin against us? Jews say no. His forgiveness is complete. Our sins are blotted away, washed away, cleansed away, swept away, and He remembers them no more.

No, I heard it was because Mr. Rooney was cheap. :-)

(Those who never noticed, watch the game tonight. When the Steelers move left to right you see a logo. Right to left, no logo.)

Proof for what, that there will be a Messianic Kingdom setup with a 1,000 year lifespan, or that the Messianic Kingdom is the Kingdom of Heaven mentioned in Matthew?

How do you make the connection between the thousand year period in Revelation with the Kingdom verses in Matthew?

Where in that post did I claim any glory for myself? Hmmmm? The Glory belongs to God!

You claimed glory throughout the entire post. You just too blind to see it.

"...Not as i will, but as Thou wilt"
No quandry here, Jesus is asking His father to let Him off, if possible , but, if it is the Father's will, then so be it (AMEN).
This is a lesson for all of us in prayer . Ask for it and if we get it it is God's will . If we do not get it, He said "No".We(should)strive to conform our will to His will .
