The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Rom 5:14+ Nevertheless death reighed from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of
one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by
one man Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as that by that sinned...For if by
one mans offence death reigned by
one...18
For as by one man's disobedience...
1cor15:22 For in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Your verses are very nice but they are not quite related to the point that I was trying to make.

Hard to find two people with more in common societally and politically than a conservative Baptist and a conservative Catholic
I believe the article was referring to their reilgious beliefs, and I don't see where my comment "bashed" Catholic's. Need to be a little thicker skinned.:O)

The little weasel never 'paid off' his wager with Steven, either. What was the deal? Maybe we should ping him and see if he will pay up.

Sorry. Your post said that "venerate was found
in two items - "respect" and "piety" both of which listed "veneration" which is not properly (I think) a sysnonym of "venerate". Additionally, I used the online Roget's and it has no listing for "venerate" as a word, only as a synonym for "respect". I therefore assumed that you were not quoting the synonym of "venerate". Perhaps I was wrong. Could you check again? For instance, what "word number" does Roget's assign to "venerate"?
I went further to check the two dictionaries and two theasaurusi(?) in the office, and none of them used "worship" in either the definition or synonym list.
I will agree that there is bound to be some small cross over between the concepts in the secular world and that there is bound to be a dictionary or theasaurus that uses the word "worship" in some relation to "venerate" (although I still can't find one). Regardless of what words we use, however - If the RC conception of how to treat Mary is along the lines of "intense respect and honor due to the one and only mother of the man who was our Savior" but the NC conception of the RC belief is "treated as if she could effect (or even "affect") a man's eternal destination in or of herself or was on a level (or even close) with God Himself" or some such, then I will continue to comfortably state "I don't believe that".

I don't know, I kinda liked the Bruno Curby one. :) BigMack

What was the deal? Maybe we should ping him and see if he will pay up. Naw. Don't mean much now. Everybody's trying other churches without losing a bet now. :-)

Right you are. Revisionists, feminists, and God-haters will try to say the Word was written the way it was because "back then" women were oppressed and unappreciated. We know Adam was ultimately responsible (because the Word says so).
To: angelo
Wow. How can Bruno's face be so pale and the rest of his body tanned? :-)
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
That would be really sad if someone just suddenly stopped and we never knew what happened. Not a thing to worry about. Remember? We all read your post that protected us from "sudden death"?

I had a femanist psych teacher who wanted to give the responsibility for the fall to woman saying that she did it for control for man.

What was the deal? Maybe we should ping him and see if he will pay up. BigMack Naw, we tried. He's poked his head in here twice since last summer, and Steven and I nailed him both times. I don't think we'll see him again.

Not to stir:) (but of course I'm the mean channel of Mack) but I should have been a little more clear about that article. It had been posted that day I posted it on a thread about it being St. Josephs day, and alot of the people on the thread thanked the poster for posting it. This sort of thing seems odd to me in light of what you all say. But don't worry, it wasn't that big of a deal:)

What was the deal? Maybe we should ping him and see if he will pay up. BigMack He lost a wager on the NHL finals. He was supposed to attend the church of Steven's choice. Rather than follow through on it like a man, he simply vanished from the thread.

Wow. How can Bruno's face be so pale and the rest of his body tanned? :-) LOL! Hey, I only had time for a quick cut-n-paste. I could've matched the skin tone, too, but that was too much work!
