The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

I thought Protestants all believe in having a personal relationship with Jesus. I woulda thought that would imply a two-way relationship.

Again, do you believe in soul sleep?

I assume that you believe in soul sleep?

You assume wrong. Physical death seperates us (the living) from those who have died, in case you haven't noticed. And God did this for a reason and He told us in the Scriptures not to communicate with those who are no longer among us, you can look it up. We've been over this numerous times, I'm not doing to look it up for you.

If you read the Bible, you would know that we are to call her blessed.

Where is the bible verse that tells US, to call her blessed, and to pray TO her, please?

OK, you seem to be very confused, let me explain this to you. Read slowly and carefully. Ready? Jesus is God, and we are told to pray to God and send Him our requests. Your saints and Mary are not gods, are they? Now did you get that? Yes we have a two way relationship with God, and it is necessary, but He doesn't speak to me or us audibly, because He doesn't chose to, it requires faith. You do understand what faith is, don't you? And in whom are we to have that faith? It isn't Mary or the saints or any church.

Lk 1:48 "From now on, will all ages call me blessed." As for the part about praying TO Mary, you should know by now I don't even dignify such idiocy with a response.

Too bad the entire Christian world believed differently for 1500 years, until Martin Luther decided to violate Revelations 22:18-19 and remove 10% of the Bible.

May I edit just a little:) God does speak to us. His Word. That is what the bible is, God speaking to us. We pray to him and he talks to us in his word. He tells us everything we NEED to know to live for him in his word, any thing else is probably of this world and we should steer clear of.

Yes it is too bad that so many people (not all) were deceived for so long. Does the term "the Dark Ages" ring a bell? It was called that for a reason.

--------------------------------

We are not told to call her "blessed." Mary only affirmed that all would agree with her that she was a very blest woman. But we are not instructed to call her that! I don't think that is a valid "eisogesis." : \

Lk 1:48 "From now on, will all ages call me blessed."

This is not a command for us to call her blessed. She was stating a fact that yes we do call her blessed, I call Paul blessed also, wouldn't you, I call myself blessed, because Jesus died for my sins as he did Mary's. Do you consider yourself blessed? If not, I am sorry:)

As for the part about praying TO Mary, you should know by now I don't even dignify such idiocy with a response.

Actually I take this as a "there is no verse, it's an oral tradition." Not such an idiot after all am I.

Yes, Becky I agree and that is what I meant (He speaks through his word), that's why I put that word "audibly" in there. Unless of course, you have the Bible on tape. :-)

Go back and read your own posts with tiki and you will see my point. If you do not, there is no reason to discuss things with you because you and several other "superior" people on this thread only wish to do what the old Greek sophists did. I would have hoped that all that believe that God sent His only begotten Son to bring us back to the Father would not use techniques that Jesus clearly did not like.

Jesus said He was the Truth,He said the devil was a liar from the beginning. Specious arguments and statements cloak untruthfulness.

Catholics believe in a transcendent, triune God that is always with us and consequently are more likely to always be aware that we live in a natural world encompassed by the supernatural one. I believe this accounts for many of our differences and as a Catholic it would be disingenuous of me to not say I believe the Catholic Church possesses the fullness of truth. But believing that does not discount my admiration of many of the non-Catholics on this thread for trying to love and obey God as they know Him. I just wish they would stop belaboring the same old things,we need to work together for God,spiritually and temporally,we have many enemies today.God bless us all.

I used that Rev. verse one time on the catholics, and was soundly reprimanded, because they said that applied ONLY to the book of Rev. You guys should really get more united since you are catholic (adjetive:)

Rosary - A string of beads containing five sets with ten small beads. Each set of ten is separated by another bead. It also contains a crucifix. It is used in saying special prayers, usually to Mary where the rosary is used to count the prayers.

Becky, he thinks that is a command to call her "blessed"!!!!! As for the other, he doesn't have a response because there isn't one. I'm surprised he doesn't say we are supposed to pray to Mary because she said "From now on, all ages WILL CALL ME [pray to me and call me] blessed."

I've gotta' take a break for a while. You take over for me, OK?
