The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

SD, there seems to be some confusion as to what I'm looking for.

Most Churches have a list of their doctrine that one has to agree with before they can become a member.

OK, I wasn't sure what you were looking for. Technically, the entire Catechism is what we ask someone to believe. Remember we hold classes for months before confirming someone.

But in short, one should believe the Nicene Creed, the 7 Sacraments, the idea of a Church founded upon Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium, and the communion of saints.

The Nicene Creed is a good place to start. It is what we believe, the core, and it is recited every Sunday.

Giving up meat on Friday and sacrificing dessert isn't enough for Steven.

That tuna helper sure came in handy. :-)

I assumed we were aware of some kind of age of accountiblity.

Your "absolute" statement says nothing of an age of accountability. It is an exception to the statement being absolute. So exceptions are plausible.

Guess I'd better post this question again. Steven, does the verse you keep quoting mean this, or not?

Steven; will you help me out and refuse to answer until he lists the first 10 Popes, their dates of reign, and their biographies? Is this too much to ask? It must be easy to prove the unbroken line.

Leave it to an army of Roman lawyers to twist it to mean something lese though. Simplicity is always out of the grasp of legalist.

You rang?

And complexity and mystery is always out of the grasp of the simplicist.

The writer just assumed the babys ages one year or less weren't really paying attention. Go figure.

Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me

Is Irisshlass supposed to be God in this example?

My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.

I dunno Reggie, that's alot to ask. Ignoring Dave would take a whole lot of fun out of these threads for me. Lets try and think of another strategy. :-)

You're not a noncatholic, you're a person who isn't Catholic. For this discussion

Pay attention Angelo. Dave makes the rules. "Dictionary according to SoothingDave".

Just who the hell do you think you are, you impertinent snip?

How do you prove anything to a scoffer? We could show you testimony after testimony of people who got healed at Lourdes, for instance. You would dismiss them all.

Thank you, Dave. I knew someone would focus on the word "legend". How much extant documentation is there for any event that occurred around 300 A.D.?

"She who"(must be obeyed) has "asked"me to go with her to the local UMC with her on Ash Wednesday . Since she goes to Mass with me on Sundays , I'll have to go with her . Being retired, I'll get to go to Mass in the morning . I can then report on what the UM's do to begin Lent.

In order for a papal bull, encyclycal or any other papal pronouncement to be "binding" it has to be issued ex cathedra, that means, issued while sitting in the "Chair of Peter". In official Romanist dogma, the pope isn't really infallible unless he is sitting in the "Chair of Peter".

LOL. Why don't you let someone who knows something answer? Trust a "simplicist" to think "ex cathedra" is to be taken literally. LOL

You see where this is at? Our non Catholic friends who just know the Catholics are wrong, who have spent months here debating things, don't have the slightest idea what a Sacrament is.

You see where this is at. Another generalization from Dave. A generalization which Dave insists he doesn't make.

Reggie, I think angelo expressed himself quite well. No need for you to defend his honor. He's doing fine by himself, and I conceded the point. What do you want, me to grow an extra limb?

You may be right. I referred to him as a Greek expert. Perhaps I was wrong in my assessment. Is he also a Hebrew expert and codicologist. I stand by that which "is written" and rely on Strong[er] evidence.

Are you worried about something? You are not suffering from battle fatigue, are you? or ecumenical overload? Maybe our Greek expert has knowledge but lacks understanding. Perhaps that is something that you are missing as well.

Ask our Greek and RCC experts to identify "Theotokos" in the following report of the original vision from the shrine Our Lady of Medjugorje:

"He was ugly, horribly ugly. You cannot imagine how ugly, he almost killed me with his gaze, I almost fainted. .. . Then Satan went away, and Our Lady came and said to me: " . . . . renew the use of holy water, wear blessed objects and holy objects and put them in your homes." "

Which of the two appearing together in the same vision is Theotokos and what was the other doing there? Maybe having lunch together? Are they friends, perhaps related, maybe father and daughter? The RCC does stand by its "visionaries", doesn't it.?

Then after you get their answer, answer it for yourself.

If the RCCs, or anybody else doesn't like what I post, then don't read it. Perhaps you meant to direct your post to some of them. They are the ones who need to apologize for their dishonesty here, particularly the way they mock the Word of God and those who believe in Him. What they and anyone thinks and feels about God's Word is what they really think and feel about Him.

Telling you what I used is saying those were not my words. And I did not use any apologetics sites on the net either. The apparent scripture I used extensively were not my words.

I must have missed it. Will you please tell me where you referenced the site or author you copied?
