If the letter was received in NYC on Sept. 18th, that was a Tuesday. I suppose it's possible it was mailed in Trenton on Monday the 17th, but downtown NYC was a mess then, a week after Sept. 11th. If it was mailed any earlier than that in Trenton, there was a weekend in the way. That means we're getting quite close to Sept. 11th.

I live halfway across the country in MN and our mail was delayed right after 9-11. I know a lot of that was because of the airlines being grounded. Would mail from Trenton be delivered by truck or flown in? Sorry, I've never been to the area and have no idea how far Trenton is from NYC.
