Making changes to the Self-Search function, and in particular, how the database is organized in relation to Self-Search.

Self-Searches should now be lightning quick and should span many months. The current index holds about 6 months of data (all I have available.)

In an unrelated note:

one small problem with the new Self-Search in general is that you can't see if you've already visited the thread, because of the "page=2" and stuff at the end of the URL.

If you put two links in there, one to the thread itself, and one to the post, people would be able to tell if they've been there before.

Another very, very small (insignificant) error is when you are previewing a post, the link in the "To:" button at the top takes you to the old thread format, rather than the new (that's about as insignificant as I can get with the nit-picking)

I'll work on that post deal. This proggy is just a quick hack to get self-search functioning with the mega-bump field. The guts will eventually find their way under the /focus directory when a couple more things are finalized.

From what you've done already, I've got pretty high expectations. Don't let me down ;)

This detachable doohickey will reduce FR's bandwidth load, too, by keeping everyone from running self-searches every two minutes to see if anyone's replied to them. Convenience AND effeciency--nice work!
