I've persuaded a couple of people to join FR just on the strength of these lists you've posted here. The word is getting out. Contact the buttholes in Congress and make them pull back the red carpet for terrorists. Of course, if you're in Boston or Berkeley you might not have much of a chance... but there's a lot of good USA in between.

But seriously, while Free Republic may be a unique voice for conservatives ( and some Libertarians ) on the web, it's also a wonderful news source and research tool.
I used to zoom all over the web for news & opinions, but I have found that 9 times out of 10, if something has merit, it ends up here... usually much faster than it reaches the "mainstream" media.
Even more valuable is the online real-time commentary by members-- when you have dozens or hundreds of people from all over the world, in all walks of life, with all sorts of unique perspectives, the real truth gets shaken out very quickly.
You know, I don't know if I have the typing skills and patience to pull it off, but I- or some other FReeper- needs to compose a "User's Guide to Free Republic," outlining how to use the internal search engine, how to use google Advanced to search the site for information, listing a lot of "lists & links" here that cover subjects like, say, Klamath Basin, which the "watchdog press" has done a poor job of covering accurately.
And just FYI, here's where most of my "lists of links" and articles are:

Nobody's added to this thread lately. I hope that doesn't mean that nobody's reading it. I hope there are new people checking in here every day to get the addresses they need at the top of this thread.

Nobody's added to this thread lately. I hope that doesn't mean that nobody's reading itI always wonder about that, too. I know that if an article isn't in the first 100 or 200 posts I look back on, I'm liable to miss it, unless it is cross-linked on some current post I am reading.
I know there is an awful lot I miss, and I am on rather regularly, from about 4:00 Am 'til 9:00 Pm each day.
Look at this:
Look Here: I was amazed at how many stories I missed- did you miss them, too? Consider saving this link to disc....

We need a lurk-counter, so we can tell how often a thread is read.

I have noticed that sometimes when a post appears on the main page and includes a one paragraph summary, there may be a final line with "1 comment, 217 views" ( varies ) in it- I dropped JimRob a note asking how to access this info but haven't heard back from him. Will advise when I do.

Great thread! Very useful!

Thanks- you can *really annoy* a whole lot of different people with all those links! I set up a "group" email in Outlook express for "News Groups" with about 25 different papers' letters to editors as a recipient, and another for "opinionators" for people like Larry Elder, et al, and BCC them with links to stories I think they need to know about.

Nobody's added to this thread latelyJust for the "H" of it I posted a link to this a few minutes ago on thefiringline.com -- they are a Libertarian/conservative board with over 12,000 members. While mainly tech info & RKBA related, they do a fair amount of activist-type things, too.
I still wish we had a bloodly counter visible on these posts so we could keep track of how many actually read them, and see when the go dead.

Thanks for all the addresses - ya'll are great assets to FreeRepublic and I, for one, appreciate your efforts!

Gee, I missed your reply... thanks for looking!
Without the lists of several fine members I would have had to make this list a lot shorter and less complete.
I really think since 911 and the anthrax attacks that e-communication will be a lot more effective.

Good morning. Thanks for all the links. I saw your post on Yahoo, and followed it over. I can't get to anything but self search here. Are you having the same trouble?
