With all that has happened in the past month, I'm not so sure that the MfL needs to retain it's past incarnations. Perhaps we need to find a way to let it "evolve".
I find many who see the 2nd Amendment in a new light. Unless the Bush administration seriously blunders, I don't see the Clinton/Gore/Reno minions holding much sway, in the forseeable future.
Should we relax? Of course not, we need to remain ever vigilant, to prevent further loss of our liberties. However, now may be the time to work at our local levels to regain some of what we lost in the past several years.
What we must guard against is our fellow citizens failing to heed Franklin's warning of giving up essential Liberty to obtain temporary "security".
I'm currently up in Massachusetts, on a short vacation. I will be headed back to Texas on Sunday afternoon. In traveling across this nation, I can assure you that the mood has definitely changed from a year ago. I have several copies of the DoI/Constitution with me and have given them to anyone who may be interested in reading (or re-reading) our foundation documents.
I'm convinced that if any good has come of these horrific events, it's that there is a new awakening, not only of good old fashioned flag waving patriotism but of an awareness of what Founders really bestowed upon us all.
There will be a time for us to gather once again but for now I suggest we all do what we can, when we can, wherever we may be, to encourage the new found pride of being an American that is literally sweeping across this nation.
Stay well, my friend.
