My grandfather was a WW1 vet. He used to say "Don't believe anything you hear, and only half what you see.
It could be just a coincidence that Clarksville is just outside of Ft. Campbell, KY, the army base that trains special ops forces.
Maybe they were also scouting for info on special forces.
