For that, it does not need military help. Maybe not, but it definetely needs political help.... Also, would other nations (especially Arab/Muslim ones) just stand idly by in such an event? It is preposterous to suggest that American troops, along with those from countries that want to join us, can't militarily overwhelm and disarm the Islamic Axis nations.
Which countries other than Britain, Australia, and Canada would really join America in such a move? And who would oppose America? But yes, they would crush them completely... Forcing Jordan, Egypt or Saudi Arabia to join a genuine war effort would only topple those governments.
Good point but is anyone listening? A full scale invasion of Afghanistan might topple these governments. Any invasion of Iraq would most probably topple these governments, and any invasion of Iran would definetely topple these governments. OR If not topple, put them in a position were they have to directly oppose the US (or her allies) with military force.... Just out of curiosity, does any one know how many soldiers (500,000 i think), firgates/cruisers, aircraft carriers, planes etc.... were used against Iraq in 1991? Just wanting to compare the number with this time around, as i think this would be a good way to judge who might be in the line for some attacks....

Shame.......Seems to me that their airspace will be fully utilized by us as we eliminate all those silkworm missile sites that would just love to get a US ship on their scope.
To: veronica
Didn't think they would.
If it is needed, we will use it.
They will agree or no distinction will be made.
Iran is interesting. How this all comes down over the next year or two will be interesting and something no one can know.
Who is really in control, the Mullahs or elected President? Is Khatami (sp?) civilized or not? Where does the public stand?

Colin -- "No, wait Norman, let's let sanctions work" ... "The plight of America's cities is the white man's fault" -- Powell is a weak sister who right now is one of America's worst enemies. In my opinion, he is personally courageous, but politically cowardly. And that fails -- miserably -- by half.
Of course, we should honor Iran's refusal to let us fly bombers over its territory in order to attack Afghanistan. We should fly bombers over its territory in order to attack Tehran.

Since when do we need their permission? We'll take out their air force and air defense, then overfly them anyway.

When RR gave Lybia its wake up call, didn't our tired pilots who had to fly around France accidently drop one on the grounds of the French Embassy. Iran can hope the pilots don't get tired this time.

We've learned a lot since then. Our pilots will take these out before they're tired. Maybe even just for practice. Or just for the principle of the whole thing........seems like we still owe them for something over the last 25 yrs.

>>Good, because let there be no doubt, Iran is as guilty as Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria. I would have hated to see these suckers sneak from getting their "fair share" of America nuclear stockpile. BOMBS AWAY!<<
Absolutely!!! This way there's no problem when we go in to clean out their nest with them being a part of the coalition.
After we bomb them back to hell there will be plenty of Iran land to fly over.

It wasn't THAT long ago that I last heard that song, was it? Didn't we use it when we bombed Iraq, too? Boy, am I getting old! (forty today, actually!)

Well-trained mujahedin groups are prepared to strike U.S. facilities in this region in case the United States attacks Afghanistan, Dnevnik reports relying on well-informed sources. Part of those groups is located in the Debar region and Kosovo and is put on stand-by to attack the U.S. bases Able Sentry in Petrovec near Skopje and Bondsteel in Kosovo. Anonymous sources say the threat has come from Commander Beard (or Mjekra in Albanian). Commander Mjekra is one of the key persons in the collaboration between the NLA and the KLA and is in charge of intelligence issues. The link This might get pretty messy!!!

I was driving through Hahira Georgia a few months ago and thought about Ray Stevens. Was a little disappointed that they didn't have a sign saying "birthplace of Ray Stevens". Is he still around?
If he is I would love for him to write a song about bin Laden.

Is he taking a cake this time?

Why am I not surprised.
But people should not get down too much on Iranians. There are a lot of Iranians here in Tokyo and they all detest the radical religious leadership of that country with a passion.
This is especially true of the people born since the Iranians born since the revolution.
I don't think the Mullahs are going to be in power much longer.

What I want to know is whether Iran's regime is slowly burning itself out and wearing out its welcome or whether it can manipulate events in Iran and elsewhere in order to maintain control. If Iran government defys the U.S. by harboring these terrorists or has any other direct link, then the last question is moot, yes.
