One of our daughters is a graduate of Texas A&M and her husband is also. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets.

You must be very proud of your sons.

I have 3 degrees from Texas A&M. I remember walking around the drill field and reading the plaques on the trees which surround it - these plaques serve as living memorials for those Aggies who gave their lives in various parts of Europe during World Wars II.

I thought a lot about those trees and plaques this week; about the kids who now walk those fields and who will most likely be called up for service.

I work for a Big 10 public university - a great one, with a squeaky clean student body much like I was a part of during my years at Texas A&M. I know that many of our students here as well as at Texas A&M will be going to fight for the principles which drove our forefathers to do the same.

May God give them steel wills, courageous hearts and may he give those of us left behind the same to insure that our politicians and our countrymen & women maintain this fight no matter how many years it will take. No matter what continued terrorist acts we may suffer. We owe it to our country, to those who gave us this wonderful freedom, and to those we now send to do the dirty work of war.

With a breaking, but resolute heart

Endeavor
