Now I am FULLY aware this is going to get me Flamed beyond belief....but I have have stated something that is true.
The Bible says "...at the name of JESUS every knee shall bow..." And George Bush did not say "Jesus" during the debates. I did hear him say it in interviews both prior and after. I DO believe he is a man of God, but I WAS disappointed during the debates to hear him use a generic term for Jesus. I'm sure it was difficult for him to NOT say 'Jesus', but I'm also pretty sure that his advisors TOLD HIM not to.
Flame away, but I WATCHED the debates CLOSELY to see if he was the kind of christian I expect him to be.
I am saddened by the fact that Mr. Bush has to deal with this tragedy. (But then again, we all are.) But if there is any consolation, it is this : We don't have Al Gore responding by murdering and twisting Biblical quotes like he has in the past.
Haven't you noticed that when GEorge W. quotes the Bible, he does it from MEMORY? (and not from a tele-prompter)
Not to quibble, but George W. Bush named the name of Jesus not only on public TV (perhaps not during the debates), but in print. In A Charge to Keep, he gives strong testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ.
But that weekend my faith took on new meaning. It was the beginning of a new walk where I would recommit my heart to Jesus Christ, p. 136.
He also talked, in an interview with Britt Hume, about his answer to the question during the primaries as to who was his favorite philosopher.... "Jesus Christ, because he changed my heart," and said it was a spontaneous response about how he really felt (even though it got him in political hot water).
Sorry you were disappointed in the debates, but the man is an unashamed follower of Jesus Christ.
