Breaks my heart re-reading the thread from that day. I will never, ever forget. Still makes my eyes well up. :-(
What I remember the most was not knowing exactly what was going on....there were a lot of rumors flying around, that at least 20 planes were unaccounted for and potentially headed for other targets, including Dallas....Our workplace was let out early at about 10:00 AM, I went straight to Carter Blood Center to donate blood, me and about 100 other people had the same idea, of course the Center probably only usually had a handful of people come in per day, so they were quite overwhelmed. But we ordered pizzas, and watched the news on TV while patiently waiting our turn to give blood.
