You have a distinct point. More potential upstream capacity is good news, but in the future (if not today) we will need more downstream capacity as well.

One question, though. We can find/extract more oil, but it we can't refine more oil, then what? We could nearly triple our domestic oil production and not meet the capacity of our existing refineries. But we would be refining US crude instead of crude oil that pays royalty and taxes to our enemies.
