I'm not familiar with the specific facility, but since it is in Waukegan chances are it's not a rich neighborhood. And that would mean that the people who visit the ER don't have regular medical care, so it would not surprise me that the patient just sat and died while waiting for attention.

After all, you make the comment that symptoms are taken more seriously when the patient comes in with a full reservation - ambulance, EMT's, etc. if the patient can't afford an ambulance ride along with medical care at the hospital, having this woman die in the waiting room should not be a surprise.

WE live where life squad response time is about 30 minutes plus another 20 for the trip to ER.Quicker to have family take you.

My father went to ER repeatedly but never taken serious\y:brown=bagged .etc until finally a test showed lung function at 30 percent.Non=smoker.

Died at home of massive heart attack?,aged 62, after complaining of pains in neck and back for several days.Reluctant to go back to hospital because of poor treatment and ridicule.

Actually poor but hard-working;no slimy lawyers,ot even non-slimey ones, interested in the case'long standing reluctance by local lawyers to "mess" with local doctors in a one hospital town.

As I suspect is true in most cases,NO money or sympathy paid;the hospital did assist in (insist) in getting the funeral director to take my father's body away and embalm it within a few hours.

Dad used to say the undertaker covered up the doctor's mistakes.
