The district did not indicate why Romer, 77, wanted to leave before his contract expires in June 2007. I don't know, but I can take a guess.

However, there has been increasing tension in recent months between Romer and board members. Also, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has said he wants to take control of the school system. Hmm... Does this mean he was effective? Doing your job well is typically the best way to get on the bad side of the school board and local politics. Is this the case?

As much as I dislike Romer's politics I cant say that I disagree with his decision.
Romer probably heard the same rumor that we all have. The last Amtrak train is scheduled to leave Ciduad de Los Angeles the day after Cinco de Mayo.

He [Roy Romer] also has pushed for completion of the Belmont High School project, a massive downtown school complex. Construction halted after it was found that the land sits atop an earthquake fault and an oil field that contains explosive methane.Belmont High School, AKA

- Central High #11
- Vista Hermosa High School
- BIG waste of money
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has said he wants to take control of the school system.Well that should certainly improve things. (Haaaaaa.)

I hope he isn't getting a wild hair to try and run for Colorado governor again.
