DJ's baaaack!!!

In that case, allow me to make a special ping. Methinks the Big Brown Truck will stay in the hunt all year.

The #18 or the #17 will win this weekend...

Wouldn't you know; I got both of them in the stables.

We are lucky again this week to have practice before the league deadline. I'm kind of waiting to see how they do.

First practice is up on trackpass in about 45 minutes, weather permitting. I haven't looked at that yet or the garage cams.

Wimmer to the 11, what about his current ride? Are they giving it back to the Southern Burton?

Truex will not leave DEI unless Jr does.

Good Morning FRiend...

Here is the story of that accident, he will admit when he's at fault. That is one of the reasons I like him as a driver and is one of my favorites.

But on Sunday at Las Vegas, Earnhardt ended the race on the wrecker's hook for the third time in the past eight races.

He didn't have the handling problems that plagued his No. 8 Chevrolet last year. Worse, only 12 laps into the event, he got into the back of Brian Vickers, triggering a four-car accident that also created victims out of Bobby Labonte and Ricky Rudd.

Earnhardt took the blame for the accident, saying he was surprised when he suddenly caught Vickers in Turn 1.

"[Vickers] had been on my ass for about three laps, so I was going to let him go, I just got into him," Earnhardt said. "I don't know what the hell happened over there.

"I went into the corner like I thought he should and he got into there a little easier than I expected. I got all over him. I apologized to him."

Vickers and Earnhardt had both qualified poorly Friday and were moving through the field when the wreck occurred.

"You know, we just got wrecked," Vickers said. "It's a shame. Junior apologized, which is good. Stuff happens and guys make mistakes."

Finally, racing on Mother's Day week-end. I always thought it was stupid to take this week off. If it were up to me I would make them race 48 weeks in a row and then a month off for vacation.

The forecast doesn't look good until Saturday. Rain pretty much through late tomorrow evening, with temps holding right around 60. I'll have the Cup "rain-out" lineup shortly (and the Busch one a bit after that, if I can remember if it's the same as Cup's).

On the ground report from SC......

I'm in upstate SC and the weatherman says

that - rain today and tonight and tapering off in the morning. He says we might even see a little sunshine tomorrow afternoon in SC. AT the coast, it will still be cloudy. Darlington is about halfway between me in Spartanburg and the coast.

Yes, that weather looks nasty until Saturday morning.

What is it with Kenseth this year? Luck? Crew? Him? Car?
It makes you nervous to pick him.

I pick 15th out of 16 in our $ league here this week and nobody will take him. Should I chance it?

If qualifying for the Dodge Charger 500 is rained out, the 8 lucky dogs will be (in order):

Scott Wimmer (9 team attempts, 36th in owners' points)
Bobby Hamilton Jr (9 attempts, 37th in points)
Kevin Lepage (9 attempts, 38th in points)
Robby Gordon (9 attempts, 39th in points)
Hermie Sadler (9 attempts, 40th in points)
Stanton Barrett (9 attempts, 42nd in points)
Jeff Fuller (8 attempts)
Johnny Sauter (7 attempts)

Out because of a lack of attempts - Carl Long, Morgan Shepherd, Shane Hmiel, Kenny Wallace, Tony Raines, Greg Sacks.
