Should'nt there be a Telly Savalas movie in there? Like "The Dirty Dozen"?

You know, you're right--the French Revolution turned into a big killing field in the style of Joseph Stalin, and, while I love Louie in Casablanca, the idea that the French Resistance against the Nazis was widespread is a joke. I liked the Frenchman in "The Patriot". But I think he was fictional. Or maybe he WAS Lafayette. (snark)

Geez..I loved most of those movies too--Red Dawn is awesome. Also I loved "Memphis Belle". Actually, I think I love Matthew Modine, so please, don't tell me he's a big socialist lib.

"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life"

Do you think that Senator Blutarsky was a Republican or democrat?

I like 'Memphis Belle' as well. I was stationed in England when they were making that film and got to see a formation of B-17s fly overhead at Duxford (outside London)

It was like living in 1943 for a few seconds and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I have no idea about Modine's politics. If he just "Shut up and Sing (act)", I'll have no problems with him (or any other actor) ;-)

"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life"

I knew someone would pick up on my omission, which I realized about thirty seconds after posting.

As to Blutarski's political affiliation, Yes he was a Republican.

However, he lost his bid for reelection to a second term in 2002, when several women came forward and accused him of sexual harassment. It had something to do with being a peeping tom, as I recall.

how Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) could get on that plane with the Frenchie (Paul Henreid) and leave Bogie behind is beyond reason...

Ilsa Lund (no relation to me) got on that plane for one simple reason, she was a Republican.

Think of it. She chose loyalty to a hero of her country, in hopes of stopping the Socialist takeover of her adopted homeland. She selected him over a drunken, gambler, who excuded self confidence while running a shady operation and fleeing from some unknown past crime, plus he was managing to avoid military service at a time of high national need, in other words............ he was a DEMOCRAT!!

Actually, "frenchie" was Chechoslavakian (sp). So your list goes down to two.

I guess I was referring to the actor, Paul Henreid. But clarify, I thought he was active in Chechoslovakia, but not native to?

the idea that the French Resistance against the Nazis was widespread is a joke.

Not only that, but most of the French Resistance were Stalinists.

What makes a "classic" chick flick? Where women are of ill repute & go around hugging each other?

What you said "The scenery." LOL There's romance in those movies, livin' on the edge, strong men & women, etc.

Farley's best work was his Chippendale tryout along-side Patrick Swayze... classic.

Yeah,
Yet they aren't true 'chick flicks'...
But they do have really, REALLY good scenery....

Gosh. Never thought of it that way. But you must guessed by now, good guys finish last. There is something about a "bad boy" that makes women nuts, though they regret it later. I should know, I married one, though he did settle down somewhat after taking the NY bar exam. But he is still an irresponsible wild child. And its not as cute anymore!
