This whole "anti-oxidant" movement is a bunch of bull; every living creature is in a constant state of oxidation which is two-fold as oxygen sustains us and corrodes (rusts) us.

All inorganic material suffers the same fate.

My guess is that cancer is a breakdown in programming and happens mainly due to a defect early in life or a simple aging process whereby the cells get a bit senile and forget exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

I quite smoking 5 years ago. No more saliva vs mouth cells going on in my "oral cavity". It's a total love fest.

I've read the posts here. For the record, I can count the number of cigarettes I smoked ever on one hand and only smoke occasional cigars here and there.

I have no problems with business owners banning smoking or allowing it. Their business, their castle.

My problem is when the ninnies, freedom grabbers, public health fascists, and the like run to government to ban smoking on private property, and/or impliment cig taxes.

Same goes with alchohol, caffine, fatty foods, guns, and anything else these THUGS consider bad for us.

Private property is sacred here in America, and those that want to regulate it do death need to go to Cuba or China and join their Comrades.

I used to smoke cigarettes - until I saw myself in the mirror smoking one day. Once I saw the contortions the act of smoking caused my face to make, coupled with the obvious stench and disastrous effects on the whole body, I quit - COLD TURKEY!

I grew up watching my old man smoke at least a pack - every day of his life. He enjoyed each and every cigarette - at least that's what he told us. It came as no surprise to me or my other family members that he got lung cancer.

When that cancer shot up to his brain, it was all over but the drive to the cemetary.

Yeah...OK....science is junk....everything causes cancer....what's left for us to enjoy, right? Sure, anything can go to extremes. I gotta tell ya though -- anyone who habitually inhales tobacco smoke into their lungs out of "pleasure" and exercising their "rights" is a damned fool. Knowing all we know - CONCLUSIVELY - about tobacco being a killer, when they heap that second-hand smoke on others, they become nothing short of criminals -- especially when children are involved.

I am a staunch supporter of protecting our rights. However, I wholeheartedly agree with banning smoking in public buildings -- to include restaurants and bars. It stinks and is a public health hazard. No one should be subject to having to put up with it just so some people can exercise their "right" to smoke. What about my right NOT to smoke?

Smokers are BY FAR a minority in this country. Don't we all get up in arms whenever over-reaching compensations are made to accomodate other minorities' sensitivities at the expense of others? Don't we? Yes, we do!

As with so many other things, one person's rights cease to exist when they adversely affect other people. You wanna kill yourself? Fine...but stop pointing your loaded gun at me too!
